Advent Pilgrimage

The annual Historic Downtown Churches’ Advent Pilgrimage will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2016,  beginning here at First Presbyterian Church at 4pm. Following a short service of Scripture and song at each location, the pilgrimage will proceed to the next church and finally end with a reception at the final church. Besides FPC, participating churches are St. Mary’s Basilica, Trinity Episcopal, First Lutheran and First Baptist.christmas eve2015

Join us for a recital of classical organ music!

Hear Ruben Rincon Jr. play a selection of classic organ music on the Historic Hook and Hastings/A.E. Schlueter Pipe Organ located in First Presbyterian Church, Galveston’s First Church, on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at 2:00 PM, 1903 Church Street, A reception will follow in McCullough Hall.

Mr. Ruben Rincon, Jr. has performed at High Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, as well as performed in other venues across Assisi, Florence, and Rome, Italy. He currently resides in Galveston where he is the Organist at First Presbyterian Church.

Young Adult Class

Rudy O’Connor will be starting a new Sunday School class for young adults the Sunday after Labor Day. The class focus will be comparing historical Scripture with its relevance to today’s issues. The first 6 weeks the class will discuss “What Keeps You Up at Night?” Class location is to be announced.sleepless

Houston Children’s Chorus

We will host the Houston Children’s Chorus under the direction of Dr. Stephen Roddy, Sunday, June 5th at 6pm in the church Sanctuary. The children in this chorus have some of the Houston area’s best young voices. Many of you know Steve Roddy, as he is a fine organist and has substituted for FPC in the past. The concert is free and open to the public.
